Newspaperwood by Mieke Meijer
Newspaperwood, an innovative material by Dutch designer Mieke Meijer is made of upcycled papers. The process involves gluing papers and cutting or sanding them to reveal lines that resemble wood grain. The material was presented by Mieke Meijer and Dutch design studio Vij5 at Ventura Lambrate in Milan.
Newspaperwood has been already used by designers such as rENs, Breg Hanssen, Greetje van Tiem, Ontwerpduo, Floris Hovers, Christian Kocx or Tessa Kuyvenhoven to produce such items as furniture, jewellery or lamps.
