Transparent & sharp lamp set by Front for Zero
Swedish Front design studio created a simple yet technical-inspired lamp family for Scandinavian lighting company Zero. The crucial element of the Plane lamp is the lighting source. Front opted for a flat, circular surface, that is transparent when power if off, and spreads light evenly once switched on. Since light goes two ways, both up and down, the lamp works as a pleasant, atmospheric lighting source.
Playful illumination set aside, the shape of was conceived with a more technical mindset. The flat “lightbulb” is crowned by a grid structure, held by thin metal wires. The idea was to maintain transparency and sharpness at the same time, and reinforce the idea of weightlessness instead of ruling the space. The sober, geometric form ensures that Plane works in a variety of setting an environments. Colours also range from the more formal black and chrome to vivid hues of red and yellow. The lamp is available in pendant and floor versions, and has been introduced recently with great success at the Stockholm furniture and light fair.
