Inga Sempé creates new textile line for Ligne Roset
One year after debuting her seating collection for Ligne Roset, Inga Sempé created a brand new textile set to enfreshen the line. The Beau Fixe chairs and sofas are originally graphic, well-structured pieces, that have a strong presence, and with the soft, deep cushions they provide exceptional comfort. In order to balance out the statement character of the line, Sempé originally wrapped the seating with simple, modest, mono-coloured textiles. The result was a lounging set with an air of calmness and clarity.
In 2016, Sempé dared to break that divine stillness and released the lively Sibelius upholstery. The textile features a graphic motif of dots and lines, that with the bright colours put against a neutral background, look like thick woven threads from a distance. The trompe-l'oeil effect makes Sibelius familiar and fresh at the same time. Despite the irregular rhythm of the pattern, it still suggests order and clarity, and recalls a range of connotations from Morse to Braille signs to symbolic forms of trees and roads. The textiles can be applied to the Beau Fixe pieces and to other collections of Ligne Roset, after its debut at Maison & Objet 2016 in Paris.
