Swedish lighting company
Wästberg is a fairly young brand, having been founded in 2008. Nevertheless, even under such brief period, they managed to work together with a list of illustrious and celebrated contemporary designers. They initiated collaboration with French starlet
Inga Sempé in 2010, featuring the outstanding
w103 table lamp in 2013. Now, Sempé decided to work more on that model and extended her collection for Wästberg with two new versions evolving from the original. The initial
w103 consists of a thin steel rod, which supports the hand-spun aluminium shade.
Now the same structure was extended to a longer standing lamp, the
w103f, which includes a circular platform that can be conveniently raised or lowered to function as a side table. The light part can also be set in multiple positions, either straight or tilted. The most outstanding feature of the design is that the elements are all modular, allowing for different configurations. Just like its predecessor, the
w103f omits a plain and calm light, ideal for a reading corner.
The other new design, the
Lampyre is more as an atmospheric addition to the line: both its conical shade and cylindrical base are translucent, omitting a dimmed, cloudy light all throughout. Moreover, the brightness can be set with an in-built dimmer, making the lamp suitable for a variety of settings and uses. The extended lamp collection is on display at the
Stockholm Furniture Fair right now, and will go on sale at Wästberg.
