Amadeus collaborates with Jean Nouvel on a handcrafted speaker
The Philharmonia monitors feature a curved structure crafted from 547 wood veneers meticulously machined and assembled. It also features a unique hybrid laminar port using progressive termination, yielding optimal linearity for the lowest distortion possible. The unique construction of the Philharmonia features several finely tuned notch resonators, allowing the monitors to minimize sound coloration and accurately reproduce most sounds.
According to the company, inspirations behind the Philharmonia were various, citing one of their own previously designed monitoring systems, as well as aircraft (and particularly wing-) design.
If you are interested in the raw specs, the Philharmonia features an eight-inch woofer and a 1.125 inch tweeter. A powerful 64-bit digital signal processing unit controls the speaker channels, making the Philharmonia capable of a wide 118 dB dynamic range. The DSP's are also heavily customizable, featuring systems aimed at managing EQ, limiting and even the transducers' thermal protection. The whole system is powered by two 700-watt amplifiers at 8 ohm, featuring very high resonance and unparalleled efficiency.
